NHASCD is pleased to announce that Mike Anderson has been selected to receive its 2020 Outstanding Educational Leader Award.
Anderson is an award-winning teacher, author, and educational consultant. Mike has touched the lives of educators throughout the world by leading great learning on topics such as choice-based differentiated learning, blending social-emotional learning into daily academic work, supporting students with effective and respectful discipline practices, and supporting teacher wellness and balance.
Mike has presented at many national conferences including ASCD, Learning and the Brain, and NCTE. Before becoming an independent consultant, Mike was a Responsive Classroom consultant, developer and author. He has been an elementary and preschool teacher, as well as teaching university graduate level classes. He was also a developer for the Northeast Foundation for Children, a nonprofit organization dedicated to helping create safe, joyful, and challenging classrooms and schools.
Mike is the author of several books including: What You Say and How You Say It Matter: Teacher Talk That Improves Student Learning and Behavior (ASCD, 2019), Learning to Choose, Choosing to Learn (ASCD 2016), The First Six Weeks of School (CRS, 2015), The Well-Balanced Teacher (ASCD, 2010), and The Research-Ready Classroom (Heinemann, 2006).
Mike’s energy is high and his enthusiasm is infectious when working with teachers and students. He works tirelessly to inspire excellence in teaching, learning, and leading.
The award will be presented to Mike at the 2021 NH Excellence in Education Awards Ceremony.
